o you’re taking your baby on a getaway? Or Grandma and Grandpa are watching your little one while you and your honey take a mini-vacation?
Either way, be sure to pack enough provisions to make his or her stay away from home as comfortable as can be... for everyone involved.
Clothes
A general rule of thumb is to pack 2-3 outfits per day, plus a few extra pieces of clothing in case of an emergency. However, you can lighten your load and reduce this number if you’ll have access to a washing machine.
• Onesies, shirts, pants, socks
• Hat
• Sleepwear
• Sweater or coat (if needed)
Baby Basics
• Diapers, diapers, and more diapers!
• Wipes
• Ointments
• Massage oils or creams and lotions (depending on what you use on a daily basis)
• Sunscreen
• Bottles and/or sippy cups
• Pacifier (if baby uses one)
• Spoons for feeding (if baby is eating solid foods)
• Formula or pumped breastmilk
• Toiletries such as a baby toothbrush and shampoo/wash
First Aid
• Thermometer
• Baby acetaminophen, such as Infants' Tylenol (be sure you follow your doctor’s recommended dosage, especially for babies under 3 months old)
• An emergency contact list: include your baby’s pediatrician, the number for poison control, and any pertinent information about your baby’s health.
Comfort Items
• A lovey (favorite blanket or stuffed animal) – and pack an extra one to have on hand just in case.
• If baby is going to be away from you (say, at Grandma’s), pack a tiny photo book with pictures of mommy and daddy. This is something he can look at whenever he’s missing you.
• A few of baby’s favorite books and toys.
• A crib sheet from home. Take one right off of your baby’s mattress and bring that to use on the new crib or pack-n-play so it has the familiar smell of home.
Other Essentials
• Baby monitor
