| | | Barriers
If the table has a flat surface, the JPMA recommends choosing one that has a barrier on all four sides; if the table has a contoured surface, safety standards recommend two barriers on opposite sides.
Storage
A table or dresser that includes drawers and open shelves for extra storage.
Height
Tables range from 36 inches to 43 inches. Consider mounting taller dressers to the wall with furniture straps.
Organizer
Some tables offer a space for organizing lotions, ointments, and more.
Removable Changing Tray
Some styles have a removable changing pad, so the furniture piece can grow with your child and slowly turn into a dresser. |

SAFETY
| | | - Choose one with elevated sides (to keep baby from falling).
- Choose a table that is sturdy and stable.
- When a restraint option is available, such as a safety strap (usually included with a changing pad), always use it when baby is on the changing table - and keep one hand on your baby at all times.
- Look for the JPMA Certification Seal.
Products with JPMA certification are notated below. Currently JPMA certification is voluntary, although certain safety standards will be mandatory within the next 2 years. If you have any questions about a product's safety, do not hesitate to contact the manufacturer directly. Additional safety note: Never leave a baby unattended on the changing table. Keep all changing supplies close at hand.
