Welcome
It was Christmas Day when we received the best present ever! We found out that we would be adding a new memeber to the Offutt Family. The Lord sure had been preparing our hearts for this gift and we are super excited! We ask that you would join us in prayer for this little life.
Naming Our Baby
Well we've finally got a name. Emmaus
This come from the biblical account in Luke 24 where Jesus meets with two of the disciples and proves His ressurection. He also goes on to explain all the scriptures from Moses to that present time concerning who He is. He opened up their eyes and their famous phase "did our hearts not burn within us" captured my heart. Steve and I desire and prayer for our little girl is that her heart would burn for the things of God and for Jesus Himself.
The road that Jesus met these disciples was called "Emmaus."

Interestingly this journey of pregnancy has been life changing and i have had my share of encounters with Jesus on "the road to Emmmaus'" birth.

Day-to-Day: Okay so it's been a while.  Here are a few highlights:  We have decided to stay at the current house we've been living in for the last year and a half.  We will continue living with Emily and Roni.  Steve and I will get to the two upstairs bedrooms (read two weeks ago's "My heart" for more info)  and we get our own bathroom, praise the Lord!  What is happening with our old roomate, Laura?  Well, she's getting married in June and is spending time with her parents beforehand so she leaves this Wed. :( She will be missed greatly!  Emily and I have been Spring cleaning.  Man, that crawl space got out of control!  I don't know what happened but all order that had been there was completely lost.  But thankfully after a few days of hard work we managed to get things togther. Now if we have a tornado we will actually be able to stay under there, not that we are expecting any anytime soon.  Finally, for Laura's last day, we went to the Shatto milk farm to see the factory and milk some cows.  If you've read our blog, you know that Shatto is our favorite milk.  See the pictures of our adventurous day!

My Heart: I have been learning alot about balance these days.  This webpage is an obvious reflection of my lack of posts in the last few weeks.  You see I have desire to do about a million things right now, but unfortunately as I grow and the reality of being a full-time missionary is still real, I am having trouble finding what is top priority.  Sleep vs. working in the staff office?  Time with the Lord vs. laundry? etc.  Basically for the last month while I was not writing here I have been searching my heart asking the Lord what I should do with my time for the next few months before our little one comes.  What I desire most is to take a season to spend a good chunk of my day studying and meditating on the Word getting my heart prepared for the coming changes.  Also, I want to focus some energy on the growing to-do list while I have my hands free.  Finally, I want to focus on some relationships that I have neglected in the last year or so.   The two months have been a whirlwind of internal conversations, but I finally feel a lot of peace.  More details on how this will pan out logistically with my role as IHOP-KC staff coming soon.

Baby's Growth:  The techinal stuff is below but for our baby in particular.  I'm getting bigger (my pants are getting tight and I pretty much want to wear sweatpants everyday)  The baby is moving!  What a crazy feeling. Read last week's "My heart" for more details.

  • This week, Baby will grow to about five or six inches, and will weigh about seven ounces by week's end.
  • This week your baby is working on protecting her skin, as she develops a waxy substance called vernix caseosa, which will disappear at birth. Vernix is secreted by the glands in the skin this week, and protects the growing skin from getting chapped or wrinkled from floating in amniotic fluid.
  • Buds that will later produce permanent teeth are now forming behind the baby teeth buds.
