This month, in honor of Thanksgiving and giving back to the community, our Cradle Kudos go out to Serena Dugan and Lily Kanter, the team behind the beautiful baby bedding and accessories line, Serena & Lily.
The Gently Loved Program
In an effort to ensure that all children have a secure place to sleep - and to reduce the risk of infant fatalities due to unsafe sleeping arrangements – they have created the Gently Loved program, which encourages parents to donate their gently used bumpers to families in need.
With each purchase of $250 or more at Serena & Lily’s site, you will receive a pre-paid UPS label along with instructions on how to donate your used bumper to Baby Buggy, a non-profit organization that serves New York-based families who are living in poverty. Once Baby Buggy receives your bumper, you’ll receive a bonus to that warm and fuzzy feeling you’ll get from helping those in need: Serena & Lily will send you a $100 gift certificate for use at their website.
Donations to Baby Buggy's Project Safe Sleep
In addition, Serena & Lily are manufacturing new crib sheets made from their own fabric overruns. According to their website, by the end of 2007 they “will have donated over 3,000 new crib sheets to Project Safe Sleep.”
