30 weeks and have been having braxton hicks for 2... | 12/16/07 2:33 PM
Ok i am new to these boards. But i figured it wouldn't hurt to look here for a little help.
At 27 weeks i started having braxton hicks contractions (or that is what i thought they were anyhow) They were very painful but irregular. I would get up drink a glass of water and even sit tin the tub for them to ease up. Now they are back at 30 weeks. I have been having them since last night. They are not strong but to were i know they are there.. a mild pain.. coming from my back to front every now and then. Im also having like a sharp pain in my thigh area when i am up walking around. Any Advice on what i should do?.. I really don't want to bother the doctor on a weekend if it is nothing.

This is my third pregnancy my sec. pregnancy i delivered at 34 weeks and the baby weighed 6lbs 6.7 oz but lungs were not dev. completely and he ended up in nicu for a week with pneumonia to the left lung. Afraid i might be heading for another experience the same way.

Have you been drinking enough water? Dehydration can cause contractions. I was having them for a bit and when I really upped my water intake, on orders from my doc, they stopped. My friend also had to cut back on her activity a bit since it was triggering Braxton Hicks for her. If she doesn't go for long walks, she does fine, but if she does, hello contractions. I'm sure your doctor will have more info when you go in, but those are two things that are pretty easy and certainly can't hurt.
