Basal Thermometers | 12/18/07 8:50 PM
I have been off the pill since July and am just starting to really focus on TTC. Has anyone used basal thermometers?

I read that the Basal Body Temp is your temp first thing in the morning before you even get out of bed. I'm not sure if you have to have an actual Basal Thermometer, but if you don't then make sure your thermometer is set up to read at least a tenth (ex: 98.5). When your temp is elevated for at least 3 days in a row, then more than likely that's when you have ovulated. once you start to see a pattern, you should be able to time it pretty well. I'm not an expert on this stuff cause we're on our 5th month of TTC our first. I haven't used the Basal Temp yet, but i've been reading up on it alot lately. Good luck!!! I hope it works!!

I tried this b/c I had been off the pill a long time & nothing. It will take about 2-3 months to get a pattern & it also helps to try on ovulation test to test you findings.

Good Luck & remember just dont get discouraged, when its your time it will happen. We tried over a year & here I am FINALLY 5 months along!!

I use one to chart. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great resource.

Same here. The Basal thermometer is more accurate and makes it easier to be sure of the tiny changes as your cycle goes along. You can make due with a regular one, but it's best to have the special one.
