We have not as of yet. I would like to give it a bit more time.

I'm on my 7th cycle of trying, and at my last woman's wellness exam I brought up the subject. My doc had some blood work done, I was diagnosed with PCOS and I started on Metaformin. This is my first cycle on it, so it's probably too early for anything to happen.

I really wanted to post to this, wether or not anyone sees it or not. I was diagnosed at PCOS at 29, and have had some of the worst symptoms possible! Robbed of beauty and youth, I allowed doctor after doctor to diagnose me with everything from depression to Fibromyalgia. All it took was a simple freaking hormone panel to give me life back. As a Senior in High school, I was a size 6 and had a beautiful head of long curly hair. As a freshman in college, I got a job at Hooters and fit right in. Over the course of the next ten years, my weight ballooned to over 225 pounds and I lost most of my beautiful hair. I am SICKENED at what the medical profession thinks it knows. I finally found a doctor who cares about his patients. He was able to bring me back from the dead. I went on Metformin and started the PCOS diet. I lost 86 pounds in the course of a year, and I was pregnant 3 months after I lost my 86th pound. I know this may not work for everyone. But it really worked for me. I'm writing because I wanted to let you know there is hope and it is possible to get your life back again. I am almost 7 months pregnant with a very healthy and beautiful baby girl. I want to tell anyone who has PCOS that with hard work and weight loss, I was able to completely reverse my symptoms. My hair started growing back and the facial hair lessened. I am frustrated that, pregnant, I had to go off the medicine, and some of my symptoms are back, with the hair loss and the facial hair, but I believe that things are going to get better when the baby is here because I am in charge of my health. I am the Captain of the ship and no doctor will ever tell me again what my limitations are! Best of luck!

Jayotter,

I wanted to let you know that I was diagnosed with PCOS too when I was young but was never offered an option for help. I ended up ordering my own metformin from overseas pharmacies after some advice from a family member in India. I started having regular periods and ovulating soon after. I wish you the best of luck!

If you are concerned about a medical condition, The Cradle strongly encourages you to speak with your health care provider. If you are not receiving the answers that you need from your current provider, don't hesitate in finding a new doctor that is more open to your concerns.

We strongly suggest that you do not self-diagnose or obtain medication without a prescription.
