How I got pregnant | 6/9/08 1:01 PM
Before I start I feel I should offer this disclaimer - this may not work for everyone but its worth a try. My husband and I tried for 5 years to get pregnant to no avail. We went to specialist after specialist and all they were offering was horomone shots, IVF and possibly a sperm donor. We wanted our own child, not one that's half of me and some other guy we don't know and if I couldn't ovulate then what. So my husband and I decided to take matters into our own hands and we did alot of research on diet and ovulation, sperm counts etc and made the decision to drastically change our diets. I went home and cleaned out the kitchen and then we went to the market and bought everything all natural (with the USDA stamp)We stopped drinking soda and coffee, in favor of fruit juice and water. We bought a Berky filtration system to clean the water and used only that water to cook with as well. At first I noticed no change but aftr about 6 months we both felt like we had more energy. We had bought a filter for our shower and I no longer had dry skin. We even stopped using flouride toothpaste in favor of Tom's natural toothpaste. Then after about a year and half of living all natural, I got pregnant. I'm 17 weeks and counting and I feel good. I have no stretch marks thanks to the all natural creme I use on my belly everyday and I have energy. But the weirdest thing is that I can always tell when I eat something out the has high fructose corn syrup in it because I get sick. We totally eliminated it from our diets and now whenever I have something that has it in there it will make me sick. The biggest misconception out there is that eating all natural food is expensive but now I don't even have to go to an all natural grocery store like whole food to do it. My local supermarket carries all the brands and at a discount. Even if it doesn't help get you pregnant at you will be healthier. To anyone that reads this if you have any questions or want to know more about what I did and where to find things just email me @ mematthews718@gmail.com. I hope this post helps at least one person have a healthy baby!

Thanks! It took alot of determination (especially going through caffeine withdrawl) to go totally all natural but it paid off in more ways than one. We're both healthier and my husband even lost 20lbs. You can't ask for mush more than that, other than delivering a healthy baby in the fall. : )

I figured I should give anyone who might read this and is wondering how everything turned out. I'm now 38 weeks. The baby is very active, in fact my doctor says she's the most active baby he's seen for 38 weeks. I'm still eating and living naturally although it is hard in the economy but the regular supermarkets and walmart have started offering more organic choices. We plan to continue with our diet after she's born because we just have so much more energy. I had alot of energy throughout my pregnancy. I didn't get any stretch marks and gained weight at a nice even pace. I'll be back to let you all know how the birth went.

My husband and I tried for 2 years when I went to see a nutritional health counselor. I completely changed my diet (organic, not trans fats, etc.) and in 6 months I was pregnant. Amazing. Doctors sometimes forget that our primary source for life is what we eat - it affects everything. Cool!

Congrats on the little one! But mostly, congrats to your new healthy lifestyle. I have a rare auto immune disease (which makes this whole baby making thing a lot more difficult) but the only way I have ever found to control my disease is through natural and holistic methods. What you put IN your body completely changes the way your body works. As far as HFCS goes, I have an allergy to it, thanks again to my disease, and I always know the instant something has HFCS in it. You never realize how much it's seriously in until you start reading labels. It's insane.
