The best thing I can tell you is that the longer the baby is inside, the better off he/she will be. The general consensus is that babies born at 24 weeks can survive outside the womb, but they will have extended stays in the hospital and they are at a much higher risk of having handicaps and vision issues (from oxygen given during incubation). If you're experiencing signs of premature labor, you need to contact your doctor as soon as possible. Sharp pains aren't necessarily a sign of labor, but if you experience 4 or more contractions in an hour it is time to make a call, even if they aren't consistent.
