We can't decide..it will be one or the other. We will take both with us and definitely will pick one over the other if it just "fits" but I'm afraid we'll still be undecided...

JAKOB
Pros: Love how it sounds and looks
Cons: too common with Jacob, no real meaning other than we like it

GRADY
Pros: Unusual, old-fashioned, Irish
Cons: Too "southern" or too "cutesy" (like Brady), not sure I love how it sounds - will I get used to it?

Thoughts...?

The decision is ultimately yours. As long as you are happy with it and you don't think the kid is going to get picked on for the rest of its lfe I'm sure it is a good name. You will probably know as soon as you see the baby if the name fits or not! Good Luck!

I like Grady, Jacob no matter how you spell it, is way too common.

I like Jakob. Nothing wrong with it and it's probably not as common as you think since everyone is doing unique names the tried and true ones are actually less common. Grady could rhyme with grody as in gross. Grody grady?

Here's my gripe with trendy names. Right or wrong I'm just being honest. Depending on the name, it may or may not broadcast your child's ethnicity or socio-economic background, but a trendy name WILL broadcast what generation or approximate age group they go with. That could be good or bad when they are entering the job market.

I see lots of applicants come through my organization and when I see a name that was trendy for a certain age group I can't help but imagine someone being that age or as a less experienced kid. When I see a name that is timeless like Jakob, Jacob etc. it's hard to make a judgement call on their age and thus experience based on name alone. Just being honest here.

Funny.....aren't you NOT supposed to make judgments when hiring someone based on age? Interesting...............just being honest here, but I pray that my children never get judged and turned down for a job due to their name.

Regardless, I really like both names, and wish you the best of luck!!
