Just starting for first..... and would LOVE and... | 1/18/09 3:59 AM
Hi! My husband and I are just started to conceive for our first after 4 years of marriage, so this is all new and we are very exciting for us! I am 27 he is 29, I have been off birth control for about a year ( doing a more natural method), and have both recently had our "pre conception" exams, so have a clean bill of health. And am am just looking for any tips, suggestions, etc and anythign that anyone has found to be very helpful for people who are trying for either either first or 5th! You can only read so much info, and personal experiences would be fantastic. Thank you in advance!!

Just enjoy it. The more stressed you get, the less likely it will happen right away. My husband and I tried for almost a year. We got to thepoint where it wasn't fun anymore. As soon as we took the pressure off, I got pregnant! Good luck! I'm a little over 6 weeks along and it's been an amazing experience so far!

We also took the non-stress route. No planning of intimacy, no ovulation tests, no medical interventions. It took us almost a year, but now we're 19 weeks along! Take away the stress, and if you are healthy and fertile, it will happen!
I do, however, have friends who swear by the ovulation tests. It's a urine test strip, much like a pregnancy test, but tells you when you're ovulating. Two friends in the past year have gotten pregnant within 3 months with this method.
Good luck!

My hubby & I tried for 3 years to get pregnant with no success. My Dr. told me that we were both fine & to just have more sex....well, after 3 years of that I got fed up with his lack of concern & no answers. I switched Dr.'s and went to a fertility specialist and within a month found out I had endometriosis & cysts in my tube & on my ovaries. I had surgery, and 2 months later....PREGO! Ask your Dr. what a good time limit is before you start looking for answers. At my age, 33, my Dr. told me 6 months is long enough to wait before I started seeking more answers. I wish you luck!

With our first, I was so intent on getting pregnant right away, that I totally stressed my husband and myself out. What should have been a fun time trying to have a baby, turned into a grueling task that we both almost dreaded. For that reason, I took an ovulation test when we had been trying for 6 months and luckily, got pregnant that month.
This time around, we had a completely different thought process and decided not to put so much pressure on ourselves. It must have worked because I got pregnant the first month we tried! We'll meet our new baby, a boy this time, in a few days (1/22)!
Just a little tip.....my doctor told us to have sex on days 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 of my cycle to maximize chances of becoming pregnant.

My doc also said to have sex on days 10, 12, 14, and 16. You don't want to try on consecutive days because your hubby needs a day to replenish himself. Good Luck!

I was off the pill for 15 months got pregnant but it ended in miscarriage. One month later found out we were pregnant again which scared me to death! I am now 27 weeks and am very excited to get to meet my son in mid April. I used a fertility chart at fertilityfriend.com and it helped me to know when and if I was ovulating and you get a free trial that lets you know what days to have intercourse to improve your chances on getting pregnant. Good luck and best wishes!
