Mucus plug? Sorry this is gross. | 8/1/09 2:40 AM
Okay so I woke up around 4:30 a.m. with bad stomach pains and feeling extremely nauseated , so I went to the bathroom and unfortunately had 2 loose stools. The second time I went to the bathroom when I went to wipe, I noticed a "glob" of white and yellow tinged what looked like snot. (Sorry to be graphic :-( ) Was this my mucus plug? Im 35 weeks and 6 days. Does that mean I will be going into labor soon? I've also been having severe Braxton Hicks contractions and really painful shooting pains in my groin. For the last few days I've felt extremely tired (more so than usual) nauseous, and really felt the baby lower in my uterus. I have been feeling a lot more pressure in my pelvis and it has become quite hard for me to walk. Are these all signs that my baby will be coming soon or am I getting my hopes up?

That's very possible. That's exactly what our instructor described in our labor classes. Don't get too excited yet, though. The mucous plug can drop out as far as 2 weeks before labor starts. But I wouldn't be surprised if you're in labor by the 14th.

Sounds exactly like your mucus plug. Mine fell out the day before I went into labor--(but I was already 40 weeks)
I called my OBGYN and they said to come in and be checked since the mucus plug came out.

I wish that was how it was. It happened a few days ago, and I am still pregnant. Also I've heard it can grow back, is that very likely?

I've never heard about it growing back...but that's weird if it's true.
Mine fell out because I had my membranes scraped the day before to help kick start labor. And it worked. If you're close to your Duedate, ask your Doctor about the Sweep. It may help you go into labor.

Good Luck with it all.

Yes that was your mucous plug or some of it you have a lot.. I started loosing mine when I started dilating.. and then I lost it every once in a while the night I went into labor all that day I had it when I peeded but it was bloody when before it wasnt and then in the shower I lost a huge blob of it .. they usually say within 24 hours or loosing it you go into labor .. and this was def. true for me! Braxton hicks will help you dilate but when you get the contractions in your back and you can't walk, talk, nothing then those are the real ones.. Good luck!!

I agree...sounds like your plug. I lost mine with my the day before my water broke and went into labor! But I would go to the Dr. because I know people can go weeks without the plug and its nice to see what the Dr. thinks is going on to get a more definite answer. Good luck!
