I just want to know what others opinions are of baby bumpers. I personally have no issue with them in the crib but I hear other people think they are too dangerous.

All of the "Experts" have advised against using them because they say that it is a SIDS hazard, along with anything else in the bed for the first year, i.e. stuffed animals, blankets, etc.

That being said, I decided to use one in my daughter's crib anyway- from the time she started using her crib at 6 months until she was about 2 years old there was a crib bumper in there. I will probably use one in the crib with this next baby, too. You just have to check them often and make sure that they are secure. I won't use loose blankets or stuffed animals for the first year, but I just don't think that the bumpers are as big of a hazard.

I am sure that some people will disagree with me, but that's my opinion. Good luck!

Hello,
I am Cate Cradle, a member of the Cradle team. Congratulations to all of you on your pregnancies and/or new babies! I would like to suggest an article that may be helpful with this particular topic:

Thanks for your response. Of all the people I know with babies only one didn't use a baby bumper. I plan on using one, I just thought I would ask what others thought.

I think they are fine as long as they are breathable and secure enough that baby doesnt get entangled. The issue is suffocation risk. There are new sids safe ones on the market now that are extra breathable.

I'm glad you asked this question because I was also wondering the same thing. I considered that they have those sleep "supports" that put the baby at an incline and help them to stay in one place, thus lessening the chance that they will roll all over and get stuck against the bumper. I made the decision to use one as well. Good luck!
