I am 37 weeks and am having some extreme pain on the right side in my pelvis. Is anyone else experiencing this type of pain? It really hurts whenever I try to get up from a sitting or lying down position. My doctor says its normal, but I don't remember experiencing this type of pain with my first two pregnancies. If anyone has any suggestions of things I can do to relieve the pain, I would greatly appreciate them. Its too the point today where I can barely walk. I'm trying not to complain, but I'm really ready for Sept. 14 to come so I can hold my little girl and be done with this pregnancy.

The pain finally eased up a bit yesterday. Yippie!!!! I did exactly what you suggested, but I have to switch sides. I'll lie on my left side and then that side will get numb and once I go the bathroom, I'll switch to the right and so it goes all night long:-( We're almost there though. I'm taking solace in that.

It's called...Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. I had it on my third pregnancy. Extreme pain in the pelvic area when lifting your leg up, rolling over in bed, and especially when laying on your sides.
It's caused by the "widening" happening too soon.
I couldn't find anything to relieve the pain. But
It goes away right after giving birth.
I had my baby a month ago...and I feel no pelvic pain any longer

My doctor had never heard of the term either. All he suggested was the support belt -as if it was a normal pregnancy discomfort... Its NOT.
I found out about it thru another lady here on the cradle forums.

My pain also started at 16 weeks and it only got worse everyday until I delivered. Then it immediately went away.

hang in there girls
