UPDATE: The Cradle has been acquired by one of our favorite partners, giggle! More news to come...

Hi Everyone -

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to suspend current operation of The Cradle site~~, effective December 1, 2009. (We plan to keep thecradle.com active through November 30, 2009.)~~ We will be keeping The Cradle open for a few more weeks in order for members to export their personal data.

As the founder of The Cradle, I wanted to express my deep gratitude for your use of The Cradle and its community. I've read about many of your journeys and have smiled (and cried) with you as you experienced the triumphs (and sometimes disappointments) of pregnancy and new motherhood.

Please know that this decision was not easy to make. After several agonizing months of struggling with the economy, we came to the conclusion that we could not keep The Cradle running in its current form.

While we hope to be back at some point, we know that many of you might have already given birth or outgrown the need for a site/community like The Cradle.

In the meantime, we hope that you can continue your conversations on another site. (But please check back for your future pregnancies!)

Thank you again for using The Cradle and best of luck in your pregnancy and parenting adventures!

I would like to say this site helped me out throughout my whole pregnancy and still. I really enjoyed this site. I just gave birth to a baby girl Chelsea LeAnn on October 10th. I appreciated having somewhere to go for answers. I appreciated the emails keeping me abreast to my different stages. I felt like the site was talking directly to me. This is/was an awesome site. Good luck on your future endeavors.

I am truly sadden by this announcement. I enjoyed my pregnancy, this site and the ladies here were part the reason. I recommended this site to family and friends and truly hope to see it return at some point. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to vent, laugh, and support one another.

Dear Hilary,

I am saddened to read your announcement. I just wanted to take the time to thank you for this wonderful site. I also enjoyed receiving the weekly e-mails regarding my pregnancy and being able to create a website for my family to keep track of my progress was awesome! My daughter and I thank you for providing us with an avenue for guidance and advice from other expectant mothers. Wishing you to best in your future endeavors. Here are a couple of pictures of my daughter, Milana Tamira West, born September 14, 2009.

thecradle.com is a fantastic site for current or future moms to talk about what they're going through! While I'm saddened by the news, I've just built my webpage for my first child, due in early February 2010. What do I do now? What do I tell all my friends and relatives from across the world? Will the website still be available or will it be deactivated? Please let us know, becuase I know I'm not the only one in this position.

This has been my favorite site by far. I will truly miss this site and all of it's subscribers. I hope that one day the site can reopen as I'm sure there is no other site quite like this one. It has helped me so much through my pregnancy thus far....

We truly apologize for any inconvenience - closing the site is the last thing that we want to do. While there is a possibility that the site will re-open in some form, I know that time is of the essence when it comes to sharing family milestones. Here are some other sites that might be of interest to you for creating a child-friendly web page, or a hub to keep friends & family up-to-date:

I'm very sad to hear this..i had my baby on Sept 4th and like many new moms, i would come to this website looking for answers, products or just to have someone to chat with. Two of my best friends are pregnant now and the first thing i did when I found out was to send them the link so they could join the cradle community.

I'm sad to see The Cradle is going away. This has been a very helpful site that is needed and will be missed. I hope you can find a way to come back or not leave at all preferrably. Thanks for your hard work. I wish you much success.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm completely bummed that you will be taking The Cradle down.

I'm just into my 2nd trimester and LOVED getting the daily & weekly emails, telling me what my baby is "up to". And having my own website for my family to come visit and take polls was so fun.
I'll be anxiously awaiting the day you return!
