When is the right to to register for the shower. I know I am only 5 weeks right now, but I'm just curious. I think I jinxed it by doing it at only 6 or 7 weeks last time. Any thoughts?

My hubby and I waited to register until we found out the gender of our baby. If you're going to be surprised, you could get away with doing it sooner. Just know that if you register too soon you risk some of the things you want/need may not be available when the time comes for the shower. I would suggest waiting until around 16-20 weeks along before really starting to register. Until that time, it's always fun to browse around online to see what all is out there.

I would definately wait until your at least in your 2nd trimester. Until then, look around & get ideas. Do you have someone to through your shower for you? I had mine at the Eagle House in Williamsville. It was a brunch. They were great, I highly recommend them.

My Aunt will most likely be the one to throw it for me. She loves doing stuff like that. Where is Williamsville? I live in Las Vegas.

I waited until I knew the sex of my baby with the first one, and then I got to pick out all the cute girl stuff! You can do it whenever or if you dont find our the gender then just pick stuff that's mutual and could go either way!

6 weeks is WAY too early to even think about that if you ask me. I'd be nervous to even tell people until 12 weeks....

There isn't any point to registering until someone offers to throw you a shower and you have agreed on a date. Then you can go register and they can include where you register on the invitations if they wish.

Though - same as weddings - that is still considered rather rude. In rules of etiquette, you are really only supposed to tell people IF they ask for ideas. Ah, how times have changed.....

I wouldn't say it's rude at all... people will always get what they want whether it's on any registry or not. :0)
By sending the information it just helps to let people know what types of things you're still needing.
I, for instance, already have TONS of clothes... I don't need any more. So things I put on my registries are things like diapers or bibs... things like that. But, like I said, people will always get what they want to get you/the baby. :0)

I say you should do it when you want. You might want to wait until you've had a couple of appointments to be sure everything's ok. My husband and I did around 13 weeks after our 2nd sonogram. We only chose the stuff we'll need regardless of the baby's gender, and in about 3 weeks we'll be able to add the gender-specific things. But it's your decision what you want to do and when. I wouldn't listen to anyone else's opinion.

I don't think it matters when u register. I have a registry that I keep adding to and changing. (I started it at about 9 weeks.) I'm 25 weeks now and I haven't told anyone about the registry.

When plans for a shower start then I'll disclose that I have a registry. But until then, it doesn't hurt to have one set up.

So get excited for yourself and get your wish list going...but don't tell anyone til people start asking what you need.

Agreed that its totally up to you when you want to register. We're going to find out the sex so will wait until then and my sisters are throwing me a shower, so I know it'll come in handy for the guests. If anything, I think its a good idea to start a registry as a means to make a good list of things you'll need when baby comes.
