I was convinced that I had found the perfect bed-side bassinet for my little one, who is due in about a month. We live in the city, so our place is kinda small, and a full-sized or pack-n-play was just too big to set up in our room. I found the most precious Restoration Hardware moses basket-rocker stand combo, and my in-laws gave it to us as a shower gift. It has the softest plush lining, which is so cozy, but now has me totally freaked out. I am afraid that it is too small or too soft and squishy. Has anyone else used a moses basket and stand for infant in-room, nighttime sleeping? Am I just being paranoid?

Hello. No, you are not being paranoid. I was just reading in Consumer Reports Best Baby Products that if a mattress is too soft, it can conform to your baby's shape, causing a risk of suffocation or SIDS. The denser & firmer the mattress is the better. I am not familiar with the product, so hopefully someone can give you a more informed answer. But I do recommend the book by Consumer Reports. They said always look for cribs/ baby furniture that is JPMA (Juvenile Products and Manufacturers Association) certified. Good luck and congratulations.
