My husband and I are just about ready to start our next adventure together, which would be TTC. Anybody else just getting started as well?

Hi, baphil414.
My husband and I started TTC only a couple of months ago, and it's been different from what I expected. I thought I'd be able to relax and just go with the flow, but that turned out to be harder than one would think.
I'm actually late now, but that also happened last month and turned out to be just my brain playing a trick on us. So, I'm not getting my expectations too high this time (but I am keeping my fingers crossed).
Well, good luck to you and your husband! Hope you'll have some good news soon!

My Husband and I just started trying a few months back, also. I agree it's a lot harder than anyone would think. I know wer have the time, but the wondering and waiting kills me every month.

I just wanted to let everyone who is trying to conceive some advice that i had read right before my hubby and I started to try.

I read that too much of a good thing (trying every day) actually weakens the sperm. Tell your husbands to start an exercise and healthy eating routine if they are not doing so already. Also, you should be eating as healthy as possible....being slightly overweight or underweight can make you less fertile....even losing 5-10 lbs can make a huge impact.

no hot tubs for either of you...and no tight briefs or boxer briefs for hubby.

Start taking those pre-natal vitamins as soon as you start TTC. and have your hubby start taking a multi-vitamin.

And, last....the right timing. Count the days in your cycle starting from the first day of your period. once you reach 14 days it is safe to say you are probably ovulating....i read that you should try every other day on the even days following ovulation...day 14, day 16, day 18, day 20, and so on.

I did this back in July and we were pregnant right away.

good luck to everyone!!!

There is a great book called, Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Very good information. Some women think they ovulate on Cycle Day 14. That's not always true.

This is one of the reasons why taking your Basal Temp each morning is good. When you get a temp rise for at least 3 days straight, then you know when you ovulate and how long your Luteal Phase is.

HTH.

Same thing here. One week after we told everyone, we miscarried. We're still trying...but it's only been 4 months since we started trying. So it'll happen. Good Luck everyone.

I ordered 20 ovulation kits. So it'll give me a + sign when I'm ovulating. I also ordered 10 PTs so I can then check if I'm pregnant when I miss a period. yay!

Good luck to both you!!! My pregnancy was not a planned one, not necessarily unplanned, but we just hadn't set our minds on TTC...and it happened. I don't have any experience on the matter, but my advice would be to just not put any pressure on you or your body that could add undo stress, you want to remain as much like your normal self as possible

I agree this book is very good. I would even say amazing! I have really enjoyed reading it. I've charted for two cycles now. The first with just the temperature and this month with temp and cervical signs. The first month I charted I definitely saw the temperature upswing. The second month was a little more confusing. I was also learning about the cervical signs in my body also, so I don't think I'll conceive this month either.

One of the interesting things that the book talks about is after you have been charting you are able to see what is normal and not normal for your cycle. Your Luteal Phase is always 12 - 16 days long and it is generally the same amount for a particular person (give or take 1 day) every cycle. So if someone's happens to be 13, their luteal phase will always be 12, 13 or 14 days. So if it is longer it is a really good sign that you might be pregnant. The book says that on day 18 your test should read positive. Also, you can tell if there are problems with conceiving, for example: the luteal phase needs to be at least 10 days long, any shorter and this might be causing issues with implantation and one would want to consult a doctor.

Truly fascinating book. Another reason why I found it so interesting is that you can use the same methods as a reliable pregnancy prevention technique (obviously not of interest to most of us in the forums now, but after the fact). You know when you are fertile, so you know when you need a condom. For me this means that I will never have to go back on the pill again.

This book has so much information, I highly recommend it.

GOOD LUCK! I was off of my birth control pills for nearly 9 months (after having taken them for 6-7 years), not because we were really trying to get pregnant, but i didn't have insurance at the time to refill my pills.

I was told my a good friend not to get discouraged or frustrated because that may interfere with your success. Think happy *baby* thoughts and be sure to continue or start living a healthy life with diet and exercise. It's much easier to keep up a healthy life when you're pregnant if you've already established one!

I'll think baby thoughts for you! <3 - Sarah
