Trans-vaginal ultrasound | 12/22/09 4:13 AM
I am eight weeks pregnant with my first. I am scheduled for my first appointment next week. The Dr. office said they will do an ultrasound and I am assuming it will be vaginal. My husband is somewhat uncomfortable with this and unsure if he wants to go but he is excited about seeing the heartbeat. Do most men go in the room for this? Should I encourage him either way?

my husband couldnt because he had to work but he would have if he could! he was very disappointed but told me it made the 20 week that much more special he cried threw the whole thing ..... they cover you up so he wont see anything being poked at haha if that is what he is worried about he will be more focused on the screen i would take him with if he decides he wants to then he can if not thats ok too i wouldnt push him though if its too akward for him then he may become less involed threw the rest of the pregnacy

My husband came with me to every dr appointment except one. I know it made him feel better to hear everything strait from the dr and not just what I could remember from the visit. It's one thing if I tell him everything is fine...it's another when he can see it and hear from the Dr that everything is fine.
I think you should really encourage your husband to go with you...this will be easy compared to what he will experience when you deliver! It's also really neat to see how much the baby is already moving even though you won't feel it for another few months!

Good luck with your pregnancy!
