Okay, so I went to the doctor's today for a routine weekly checkup and it was a disaster. The nurse asked me how I was feeling and I told her the truth, that I am completely tired of being pregnant. She looked at my record, saw that I had a c-section before yet still told me about the induction trials they have going on- fitting the criteria of being 36 weeks or more. I then asked my doctor when she walked in and she automatically shot me down, even though my doctor told me I could have a VBAC. I just don't understand. Otherwise, I would be well on my way to having him either tonight or tomorrow. This just sucks.

My doctor said I could not be induced as well explaining that they do not want to put undue stress on the c-section scar - since the drugs they use can make the uterus contract harder than it would naturally. BUT I did have my doctor strip the membranes today since that is less invasive and may help get things going...

Good, I may ask them to do that next appointment. How far along do you have to be? I will be 37 weeks on sunday- so considered full term.

I think they usually want you to be 36 weeks so you should be fine.

I'm at exactly as far along as you are, and I know it feels like the baby needs to come right know because I don't want to do this anymore. I'm in graduate school and my husband is a police agent who is also getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan in February, so time is precious and it would be best if our little girl would come TODAY already! However, try and remember that a baby will come when he or she is ready. The platocin that they use to induce does cause a harder labor (stronger and sometimes unrelenting contractions during the Transition phase) and and is really unnecessary unless you need or your baby needs to come out RIGHT NOW due to health complications. I know it is hard to wait but if you're before 40 weeks and have no health complications it will be best for you and your baby to see if labor starts naturally (that means not even messing with stripping membranes). Hang in there! Your body knows what it is doing!

That sounds pretty difficult. I hope your baby comes before your husband leaves! Thankfully I don't have to wait until my 40 weeks, but have to wait til the 24th when they scheduled my c-section. It just seems like it is so far away. Good luck to you and may you have a healthy baby. I think it would be best for me to wait now I think about it, because my litte one is only 5 lbs right now, so he's small for gestational age.

I was at the doctor's the other day and we discussed an early induction. He said that I have to be starting to dilate before he'll do it, because if we try too early, there's a much higher risk for c-section. I wonder if your doc wants you to wait so you can have a successful VBAC instead of another c-section. It is crappy that the nurse mentioned the trials after looking at your chart... But They may just be doing what's best for you and the baby. Hang in there! You're almost there!

I asked my doc about stripping my membranes. She couldn't because I tested positive for Group B Strep. I am one of the lucky 15% who carry it. My luck couldn't get any worse.

Everything seems bad now, but think of the end result. You'll have your little baby and none of this stressful stuff will matter anymore. I know it's hard to think that way now, but it will all be better after he's born!
