So last Friday I was at the store and I was in the checkout line and all of a sudden I got the feeling that I was going to pass out. No big deal, I've passed out several times during my life. However the doctors never figured out why.
Then Monday I was driving to work on the freeway and I got the feeling I was going to pass out again...now this really scared me, I have never had the feeling of passing out while I have been driving. Traffic was so bad that I couldn't even pull myself over. Someone I got lucky and I didn't pass out.
I ended up going to ER and the ER doctor said I was being a good mom because my iron was low since I was giving it to the baby. He suggested I go see my OB.
I went to the OB and she said that having low iron wouldn't make me pass out and after she heard all my stories of previous pass outs she said I need to go see a neurologist because they all sound like seizures. I am happy that my doctor is getting this figured out but I am scared because if I am truly having seizures I can't take any medicine till after I have the baby because all the medicine they have is harmful for the little one. Also till I see my neurolilgist I can't drive and working almost an hour away from home it is hard to find ways to get to work and home. I just wish I worked cloer to home right now.

I just wanted to get this off my chest....thanks for listening.

I think your doctor is wrong. Low iron can make you pass out because thats means its not supplying enough blood to you for you to be able to function. I was having the same problem in my first trimester i felt like i was going to pass out alot so i would sit down and eat something and it would make me feel better. My second trimester i kept feeling the same way. I would have like a panic feeling coming over me and then everything would get alittle blurry. When i felt this feeling i would try to make it over to a chair to sit down and everything would get so heavy to where i about collapsed. I had this feeling while driving in a car and it was pretty scary i was in the middle lane and there was alot of traffic but luckily i managed to pull over. I went to the doctors and told them about it and they said my iron was really low it was a 9.1. They told me to take iron pills along with my prenatal vitamins. i havn't felt like i wanted to pass out since i've been taking them.

Your doctor is definitely wrong because I have had the same problem and it was because of anemia/ iron defficiency. I think you need to get a second opinion or a new doctor. Good luck!
