could I still be pregnant | 10/29/09 6:19 AM
I am a mother of 1 already and I know the feeling of being pregnant and I was a week late so about two weeks ago I took a home pregnancy test and it was positive. a week later I took the h1n1 shot and later that day I began bleeding heavily and it was bright red in the beginning and then turned into an irregular heavy period. I haven't been to the Dr. yet but everyone keeps telling me it could just be my last period but I'm not so sure. can you really have a heavy period after finding out you are pregnant? Could there be a possibility that I may still be pregnant? Could the h1n1 shot have caused me to have a miscarriage?

I have no clue about the H1N1 and its side effects. Your best bet is to go to the doctor. Bleeding can mean a lot of things during early pregnancy. I wouldn't wait I would go to the doctor asap.

Hello,

First, let me say my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
I haven't heard too much feedback on the H1N1 vaccination. I miscarried in April with the same symptoms. Only I hadn't had any flu vaccinations. I had back pain and heavy bleeding. Are you bleeding clots? Is there any pain associated with the blood? If so, you could be having a threatning miscarriage. Please call your doctor and let him know what's going on. I hope I have helped and I pray everything is fine.

God Bless You

Thank you first off for your prayers. Second I did have clots. I just assumed that I was miscarrying, I did have cramps and severe back ache as well. Do you think I could have possibly had a false positive? I haven't been to any Dr. yet but with all the advice I am getting I am going to make an appt asap. Thank you again for your time in this matter, Im just so lost right now..

i would not wait i would go to the OB like tomorrow. get an ultrasound see if everythings ok or if it was just a false pos. I do know that our OB around here will NOT give the H1N1 vax to anyone that is under 20 weeks or atleast out of the first trimester because it can cause problems he didnt say what he just refused to give me the shot he said pregnant women who want the vax should wait until they are 34 weeks so that the baby wont have a chance of a birth defect( like it would in a previous month) they will just get the protection from the shot as well as you too so nither of you can get sick( did that make any sence? i cant get my words quite right tonight) but i dont know if it can make you miscarry.... this is just the information my doctor told me i dont know if its right or not its just his office policy and what he said ( there is about 20 OBGYNS in there and they all said the same thing) hopefully it was just a false pos. good luck hope everything turns out ok

I am not sure of the correlation between the shot and bleeding. However i bled for a week in the beginning of my pregnancy AND QUITE HEAVY AS WELL, my pregnancy was fine, and i actually had a false negative at the doc's office. every woman is different, but maybe you should grab a clear blue easy digital test at the drug store. who knows it may help you out before you go to the doctor, of course doc is always better though. good luck and i wish you the very best. i remember how scary the first trimester was.
