I have been sick since I conceived. My acid reflux has been ongoing and that is how I found out I was pregnant. I am going to the doctor next week to see about a different med cause the stuff they have me on isn't working. I'm trying to stay awat from spicy foods and anything citrus. Not complaining!! Overjoyed about being pregnant. Starting late in life at 32! It is worth all the sickness!

I also have acid reflux and am completely against taking anything for it (my own personal choice). The first 10 weeks of my pregnancy were very difficult because I was sick from the time I woke up until I went to bed. I am FINALLY starting to feel a little better. I, too, have to stay away from spicy, citrus, and tomato based foods...good luck. My doctor says there is a lot of medication out there that is safe for pregnant women to take.

I've had awful "morning sickness". I'm 23 weeks, and I'm STILL throwing up. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
But my dr. has me on Zofran, which hasn't really been tested on pregnant women very much, so we were very hesitant to take it at first. But if it gets to be all day, every day throwing up(and like mine, it doesn't matter what I do or don't eat), you start to get dehydrated, and you might start losing weight. For me, it got to where I'd lost 3 pounds, and had to go to the ER twice for dehydration. That's when we decided, maybe medication IS a good thing.
And at my most recent sonogram(20 weeks), my dr. said the baby looks very healthy, so the meds haven't really hurt her as far as we can tell.
Also, if you vomit for 12 hours straight(without keeping anything down) you should probably talk to a doctor, because you're probably dehydrated...
Anyway, I hope you find a solution to your problem. Sometimes medication is the only way to go, even though it is kind of scary.

With each of my pregnancies I've had very severe morning sickness, I always lose at least 4 pounds during the first trimester, and during my third pregnancy I ended up in the hospital for dehydration. I do see a remarkable decrease in the vomiting/nausea around 14 weeks, however unlike most women- even into the 2nd trimester I need to be careful (I'm 18 weeks, and still throw up about once every other day).

My little tips from 4 times around: eat very very small meals, I'm talking 150-300 calories every other hour or so, its almost like there is a magic line in your stomach- if it gets over full you throw -up but if you go under it you throw up too. Drink water a ton of water, way more then you think you can drink, this is for a few reasons, one it keeps you less out of the hospital, and two when you throw up the more fluid that is in it the easier it is on your body. Take children's vitamins instead of your prenatals (if you have trouble keeping them down.) you can break up kid's vitamins and really space out how you take them through the day, that way hoping at least part of the time you keep them down. Avoid pasta, and salty foods, because they are god-awful to throw up. I know this sounds gross, but trust me once you are throwing up 10 times a day, you do anything/try anything to make it less of a horrible experience. If you know you are gonna throw up--as in sometime within the next few mins. drink chocolate or strawberry milk- it helps neutralize all the bile that is going to come up, and makes it not so bad (be careful not to drink it too far ahead that your body has a chance to start to digest it.) Try sucking on lifesavers/lollipops/mints sometimes that can help.

And lastly don't be afraid to try what people say help with their morning sickness, even if it wasn't severe. During my 2nd pregnancy I found eating root beer flavored italian ice/freeze pops helped for some reason (didn't with the next pregnancy though ) and with my 3rd cinnamon flavored teddy grahams.

Good luck- hope it gets better.

I am now 21 weeks along and I COMPLETELY sympathize with you. I kept waiting for the "magic switch" to happen at 14 weeks and mske it all get better (as it did for both my mother and sister) but it hasn't happened. They swear it's because this is a boy and they both had all girls but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I am on Zofran and after my 4th trip to the ER to get fluids due to being so dehydrated, he switched me to the kind that dissolve under your tongue so I would know exactly how much was in my system. I would take the other kind and even though he kept increasing my dosage when they didn't seem to be working, I'd get sick and not know how much stayed down, and how long I'd have to wait to take more, etc. so this kind has helped. I've also learned that if you have ANY kind of bug/virus at all, it will hang with you longer than it does for anyone else and to contact your doctor immediately! It has subsided a little (or maybe I'm just learning to live with it better) and I've found that REALLY small meals, carrying a snack at ALL times, and not drinking and eating at the same time has helped. Good luck!!

I have to say it doesn't have anything to with the gender because I'm having a girl and at 21 weeks I'm still dealing with the nausea. I haven't had the throwing up problem, but I feel like I could atleast 3-4 times a day. I've realized that I can't beat it...really you have to keep snacks handy and drink alot of water.
