With each of my pregnancies I've had very severe morning sickness, I always lose at least 4 pounds during the first trimester, and during my third pregnancy I ended up in the hospital for dehydration. I do see a remarkable decrease in the vomiting/nausea around 14 weeks, however unlike most women- even into the 2nd trimester I need to be careful (I'm 18 weeks, and still throw up about once every other day).
My little tips from 4 times around: eat very very small meals, I'm talking 150-300 calories every other hour or so, its almost like there is a magic line in your stomach- if it gets over full you throw -up but if you go under it you throw up too. Drink water a ton of water, way more then you think you can drink, this is for a few reasons, one it keeps you less out of the hospital, and two when you throw up the more fluid that is in it the easier it is on your body. Take children's vitamins instead of your prenatals (if you have trouble keeping them down.) you can break up kid's vitamins and really space out how you take them through the day, that way hoping at least part of the time you keep them down. Avoid pasta, and salty foods, because they are god-awful to throw up. I know this sounds gross, but trust me once you are throwing up 10 times a day, you do anything/try anything to make it less of a horrible experience. If you know you are gonna throw up--as in sometime within the next few mins. drink chocolate or strawberry milk- it helps neutralize all the bile that is going to come up, and makes it not so bad (be careful not to drink it too far ahead that your body has a chance to start to digest it.) Try sucking on lifesavers/lollipops/mints sometimes that can help.
And lastly don't be afraid to try what people say help with their morning sickness, even if it wasn't severe. During my 2nd pregnancy I found eating root beer flavored italian ice/freeze pops helped for some reason (didn't with the next pregnancy though

) and with my 3rd cinnamon flavored teddy grahams.
Good luck- hope it gets better.
