hile you might not be heading back to school, there are some pretty fabulous back-to-school trends and tricks that you just might want to borrow for your own wardrobe.
Fall just might be my favorite season of the year. Maybe that’s because it’s the perfect time of year to bring back those much loved motorcycle boots you’ve been storing for months! That’s reason enough to welcome fall.
With that said, here are a few of my favorite trends on the front of fall fashion for mommas:
Lovely in Lace
As a matter of fact, I just bought the most fabulous pair of lace leggings! Ah… wow, they are just gorgeous and more importantly, versatile. You can easily pair with a printed or plain tunic, your favorite cotton tee, or button-down cardigan. Best of all, they look great with motorcycle boots! (Did I mention my obsession with lace-up motorcycle boots?) If boots aren’t your style, then pair with patent leather ballet flats or leopard print flats for a most city chic look.
Boyfriend Jeans
This trend isn’t going anywhere. Whether you’re pregnant, a new mom, or mom about town with little ones, boyfriend jeans are not only practical, but fashionable when paired with a plain white tee, silk blouse, or black turtleneck sweater. Add a pair of snakeskin flats and you’re good to go.
Stripes
Black and white stripes are my personal favorite. I’m also loving red and black stripes this fall. Pick narrow stripe patterns over wider stripes. For a more punk/80's inspired look, I really love neon pink and black stripes. So cool. Now, momma, I know you probably already know this but if you’re preggers, you might want to skip this trend. Of course, if you feel like you can rock-n-roll your way into this trend during these nine months, then definitely opt for skinny stripes!
Vintage Inspired Jewelry
The bold and the beautiful, momma!! Go for big statement pieces that show off that sparkling personality of yours. I absolutely love acrylic cuffs adorned with vintage brooches. You’ll have to comb your favorite vintage shop or eBay for these. Simply divine! Another favorite: agate necklaces, bracelets, and rings are a perfect way to transition from summer to fall. Search for those in deep, rich ocean blue hues. Wow!
Military Momma
This fall brings some of the most amazing jackets and coats that I have ever seen. You will undoubtedly see some serious military inspiration in all sorts of designer collections this season. Fall fashion is taking classic coats to a whole new level from avant-garde plaid prints to heavily embellished basic blacks. You’ll also find a whole new style of surplus coats and equestrian jackets in gorgeous tweeds and wool blends. All of these styles look amazing when paired with your favorite boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans. For all you mommas out there, this look is fabulous for accentuating your long, lean legs and discreetly covering up your growing belly.
Did I say how much I’m also in love with motorcycle boots? A little note for my pregnant friends reading this… a great pair of motorcycle boots offers great support and comfort for tired, pregnant legs and they look cool. You can easily slip them over a pair of black leggings and your favorite boyfriend blazer.
