Does it cost anything to join The Cradle?

Nope. It is free to join The Cradle!

 

How do I invite a friend to join The Cradle?

Simply click on the 'Tell a Friend' link in the footer of any page on the web site. Thanks for sharing The Cradle!

 

How do I deactivate my Cradle member account?

If you no longer wish to have a Cradle member account, go to your Account Settings and click the 'Deactivate My Account' button. You will see a pop-up window that will ask you to confirm the deactivation. Once you click 'OK', you will be deactivated from The Cradle.

 

How do I unsubscribe from e-mail lists?

You will find a link at the bottom of each e-mail. It will either say ,“To update/change your account click here" (this will take you to an account management page where you can unsubscribe from our e-mails) or it might say Click Here to Unsubscribe' (this link will take you to your Communication Preferences page inside of your Account Settings where you can choose which emails you do - or do not - wish to receive).

 

How do I change my password?

You can change your password in your Account Settings available in the top header (visible when you are signed in) or in My Dashboard using the 'My Settings' link. On this page, there is a button that says: Edit Account Information and Change Password. On the next page, click the Change Password button. You will be prompted to enter your new password twice, then hit ‘Save.’

 
I have already had my baby, but my pregnancy progress bar is still at the top of every page. Can I turn it off?

Yes, you can. Take these 3 quick steps:

1. Click on your due date (above the pregnancy bar circles)

2. Click on ‘Edit Due Date’

3. Click on ‘Clear’

 

COMMUNITY QUESTIONS
 

How do I subscribe (or unsubscribe) to email updates for a thread or category on the message boards?

You can subscribe to a thread, subcategory, or parent category. If you subscribe to a subcategory, you will automatically be subscribed to the threads within that subcategory. If you subscribe to a parent category, you will automatically be subscribed to the threads within that category, plus the subcategories within that parent category, and the threads within those subcategories.

If you only want to subscribe to a certain subcategory, first unsubscribe to its parent category. Then subscribe to the individual subcategories that you are interested in.

If you only want to subscribe to certain threads, first unsubscribe from the highest level category that you are subscribed to. Then subscribe to the individual threads that you are interested in.

You need to be a member of The Cradle in order to receive message board update emails.

 

Can I have 'My Pregnancy Progress' e-mailed to me?

Yes! Go into My Preferences in your Account Settings and opt in for the daily and/or weekly pregnancy progress emails.

 

What are ‘Keywords’ and how do I use them? What is the benefit of using them?

In ‘My Cradle’, you can select ‘keywords’ based on your interests. Selecting keywords has two benefits. 

1) The feature 'My Articles of Interest' will display articles relevant to your chosen keywords.

2) By clicking on a one of your selected keywords, you can see which other members of The Cradle have selected that keyword. It's a great way to find other members with similar interests. 

 

How can I find friends and family that may already be using The Cradle?

To search for other members, you must first sign in to the site. If you are not yet a member, click 'Join' to sign up for a free membership. Go to the ‘My Cradle' section, and use the search box on the left side of the page.

What is my Cradle e-mail address?

My Cradle Mail is an internal mail system for members of The Cradle. Members can send Cradle Mail to other members while in My Cradle by clicking on 'Send me Cradle Mail' in any member's ID Card. There is no direct address for members (or people outside of The Cradle) to send messages.

REGISTRY QUESTIONS 
 

Can I register for my baby shower at The Cradle?

While The Cradle doesn't have its own registry, you can easily display and link to the retailers where you have a registry.

 

How can I share my registries with my friends and family?

Your friends and family can access your registries from your public web page. If you have not yet set up a web page, sign in to your account and go to MY WEB PAGE. To configure your registry links, go to MY CRADLE >> MY DASHBOARD and click on the 'Customize Links' in the MY REGISTRY LINKS feature. From there, you can choose a retailer from our featured retailer list or type in the name and URL/link for the store(s) where you have a gift registry.

How can my friends and family read my blog?

In order for your friends and family to read your blog, you must first set up your own web page.

First, sign in to The Cradle.

Go to ‘My Cradle' and click on ‘My Web Page’ in the navigation on the left side of the page. Follow the instructions to create your own web page. Your web page will display everything from your blog on your ‘Cradle Profile’ page (if you have one). You can also add to your blog directly from your webpage in the ‘Journal’ section.

The last step is to invite your friends and family by clicking the link at the top of your web page.

 
Can I upload videos to my web page?

While you can't upload videos directly to The Cradle, you can link to existing videos from YouTube, Vimeo, GoogleVideo, or any other site that offers an 'embed' link. The video portlets are available on your profile page and your web page.

 

How do I change or remove my password on my web page?

If you have already set a password on your personal web page, you have the option of either removing it or changing it in the future. To remove the password, access the My Web Page area. From this page, you should make no template changes, scroll down, and click the ‘Save and Continue’ button. You will then have the option to remove your password by clicking the circle next to ‘No, I don’t want to use a password.’ Then be sure to click the ‘Save and Go to My Web Page’ button. 

To change your password, be sure to select ‘Yes, I would like to use a password’ and then enter your desired password in the text box to the right. Then click ‘Save and Go to My Web Page.’

 

How do I change the template on my web page?

NOTE: Changing the template on your existing web page will delete any existing information in the header (including the header title and photo).  You will also need to re-select any poll you may have had on your web page.

To change the template on your personal web page, access the My Web Page area. From here, scroll down and select the new template you would like. Then be sure to click the ‘Save and Continue’ button at the bottom of the page.

 

How do I delete photos from my web page?

In order to manage the photos on your personal web page, you must access them in the My Photos area, located in My Dashboard on the bottom right side of the page. Under each of your photos, you will notice various picture icons. To delete any photo, click the trashcan icon located underneath the photo you would like to delete. Please note that this will delete the photo entirely from your account and it will not be accessible in My Cradle Profile, My Dashboard, or your personal web page.

 

How do I delete my web page?

Should you want to delete your personal web page, simply access the My Web Page area. Near the top of this page, you will see a link that says ‘If you want to delete your web page, click here.’ Click this link and then you will be asked to confirm that you would like to delete your web page.

 

I deleted my web page, but decided I want it back! Is there any way to retrieve it?

Absolutely! Simple access the My Web Page area, choose your template and click ‘Save and Continue.’ Most of your previous information will be retrieved. However, please note that you may lose information in the header (including the header title and photo), and if you had a poll selected, you will need to select it again.

 

I recently sent my friends and family the URL to my personal web page. However, whenever I visit that URL, I can see the 'edit' buttons. Can they see those buttons?

If you are looking at your webpage while you are logged in, you will see the 'edit' buttons. However, rest assured that your friends and family do not see these buttons.
