2009 Maternity Fashion Trends and Tips

Look and Feel Your (Pregnant) Best in 2009
Tips from Celebrity Fashion Fave, Skye Hoppus

Momma, I know you’re a smart gal. You’ve come this far and luck had very little to do with it!

Times are tough but remember, you are the pillar of strength in your family and now is the time to kick it into high gear and be the best you for your family and yourself.

Feeling the pressure? Remember that being a ROCK STAR MOMMA is truly a state of mind and not just about looking fabulous. Here and now is the time to shine and I’ve got a few tricks to help you be your best.

Rock Star Momma Tip #1
Looking good means feeling good

As you know, pregnant or not (but especially when you’re pregnant), when you look great, you feel great. And momma, it’s really not that hard, regardless of the type of budget you’re working with. Think about it: what pieces in your closet are you loving at the moment? Is it the boot cut jeans that elongate your legs, or the day dress that makes you feel like you’ve just transcended into the set of Breakfast at Tiffany’s?

Try these easy looks that work well on any budget and for most every body type:

Leggings with an amazing tunic and exaggerated belt. Thankfully, the babydoll shaped dresses of 2008 are on their way out and cinched waists are back in! This look is great when paired with patent leather ballet flats.

Strong silhouettes are going to be big in ‘09. Say goodbye to maxi dressing and hello to more structured cuts. You should be wearing your outfit rather than your outfit wearing you!

Colorize yourself. Take those favorite black jeans and pair them with a bright, bold printed blouse or tee.

Better basics. Stick with your favorite simple looks. Sometimes, less is definitely more. (I can’t believe I just said that!)

Rock Star Momma Tip #2
Exercise

You and your body deserve it. Take 20 minutes out of your day (I know it sounds like a lot but just do it!) and blow off some steam. The merits of exercise are hard to ignore and the benefits are yours for the taking. I know I don’t need to tell you all the benefits of a quick, daily workout... you know them all, so now, take the time for yourself and get walking!

Rock Star Momma Tip #3
Treat yourself

Whether it’s getting a manicure, going to the car wash, meeting the girls for lunch, buying that bag you’ve been coveting, or grabbing a frozen yogurt on the way home from work, you deserve to treat yourself. No need to come up with a reason why, as we all know a hundred good reasons why you are worthy of such a treat. You work hard at balancing your life… now, take a moment for yourself and enjoy!

Rock Star Momma Tip #4
Honesty is the best policy

In an ever-changing world, sometimes it feels like the weight and stress of it all might be too much to manage. Never be afraid to ask for help. After all, isn’t this what we teach our kids?

Exhausted from a long day at work? Ask your beloved husband for help with preparing dinner or getting the kids ready for bed. Yes, you might be the pillar of strength as I was talking about, but sometimes you just need a little extra help. And there’s nothing wrong with that! Good friends and family will always be there for you - you just have to let them know you need it. Being truthful with yourself is the best (and only) place to start.

2009... this is going to be a GREAT year. It’s a little late to be making New Year’s resolutions but it’s never too late to make positive changes for yourself and your family. Being a ROCK STAR MOMMA is a lot of work, but worth every bit of it!
